Cristy Gupton

A nationally recognized employee benefits advisor, Cristy Gupton has endeavored to solve healthcare challenges for employers in the Carolinas since 1998.  Cristy has been named twice to Employee Benefits Advisor Magazine's Top 20 Women in Benefits Advising list.  In 2018's list,  Cristy and her team were highlighted as leaders who didn't back down in the face of the opioid crisis.  Cristy boldly uncovered where employers were left exposed by their health insurance carriers and outlined a path to closing those gaps with more intelligent and transparent healthcare spending initiatives.

Cristy is a contributor to BenefitsPro Magazine, Physician’s Outlook Magazine and frequently writes engaging and provocative dialogue on social media that grabs the attention of the thousands of business leaders who follow her.  A frequent speaker at national conferences, her presentations are sought after for the thought leadership and transparency into the healthcare industrial complex that so many struggle with.

In 2017, Cristy was credentialed by the Health Rosetta, a group of the nation's leading healthcare consultants who provide transparent, employer-built health plans that "solve for care".  When you solve for the care, most everything else falls into place appropriately--especially the cost of care.  The plans Cristy designs for her employer clients consistently beat expectations.  What are those expectations?  To simultaneously improve care and lower costs.  By improving the health plan and each employee's access to high-quality care providers, costs inevitably come down and usually put more money back into employee’s pockets.

Cristy hosts a podcast called Healthcare Solutions which is available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.  Her audience includes fellow benefits advisors across the country and C-suite business leaders who need to hear that "all it takes is a good advisor and a little courage".  Cristy holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Master's Degree in Health Benefits Design from University of Lynchburg which sought her for its first cohort of advisors to enter the program in 2019, which was the first and only program of its kind. Gupton also uses the designation “Global Financial Steward” since completing a program through Wake Forest University and the Center for Board Certified Fiduciaries.

Cristy also serves her community and fellow citizens through organizations like Boy Scouts of America, Free Market Medical Association and her local chapter of Rotary International.
